The Torst publishing house, established in Prague in 1990, is focused on, among other things, books related to photography:

Fototorst editions (www.fototorst.com). A small series of 160 x 180 mm monographs, in Czech and English, mostly about Czech photographers. So far 37 volumes have been published, including the first monographs about the works and lives of the world-famous Alphonse Mucha, Josef Koudelka, Alexandr Hackenschmied, Miroslav Tichý, and Antonín Kratochvíl. Apart from photographs, each volume contains an introductory essay, biographical information, and a bibliography.

The Josef Sudek series (www.sudekbooks.com). Each volume, in a 220 x 280 mm format, is devoted to a single series or theme. The edition charts out Sudek’s work in what is so far the most thorough way to date. Each of the published volumes contains about 80 photographs in a quality that faithfully preserves the toning of the originals. So far six volumes have been published: The Window of My StudioPortraitsStill LifesThe Advertising PhotographsMionší Forest, and Saint Vitus’s Cathedral. For 2012 we are preparing Labyrinths and for 2013 The Magic Garden.

Josef Koudelka publications (www.torst.cz). Apart from a small monograph in the Fototorst editions, we have also published a large monograph of work by Koudelka and also the Czech and Russian editions of Invasion 68. In 2011 we published a Czech edition of the book Gypsies.
